The new Minecraft 1.21 update, dubbed "Tricky Trials," introduces a plethora of features and enhancements that promise to revitalize the gaming experience for both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike. This update emphasizes exploration, environmental interaction, and challenging gameplay elements, pushing players to engage with the world of Minecraft in new and inventive ways.

We know we’re getting a new feature for the underground: A “Trial Chamber.” These areas feature a new block called the “trial spawner” (see below). Inside of it you face difficult challenges and get even better rewards. There are also ominous vaults that are even harder but have greater rewards.

As far as we know we’re not getting any new biomes, but Mojang is known for randomly throwing stuff out there when you least expect it. Sakura cherry blossoms, I’m looking at you.

One interesting thing is a new weapon: A mace. It deals about the same damage as an iron sword and has some exclusive enchantments that can only be used on it.

We’ve got two new mobs coming: the armadillo and the breeze. The first spawns in warm locales and when you kill it, it will drop its skin letting you create armor out of it. The second looks like a tornado and does wind damage.

Lastly, we have the new blocks (GOTTA HAVE NEW BLOCKS!): The “Crafter” block uses redstone to perform all sort of crafting miracles. It’s basically a 3D printer on steroids for Minecraft. The “Trial Spawner” appears only in a Trial Chamber and spawns random enemies with the phat lootz. Finally, we have the “Copper Bulb” A light-source with pretty copper trim. Nice. So shiny.

Final Thoughts

And that’s it really. This is all we now right now. There are of course random updates to various things (like always) and they put in a lot of new decorations (which one of my friends will absolutely love). Mojang tends to drop new updates like this in the middle of June for some reason and I’m pretty sure we’re closing up to the time when we’ll see 1.21 drop. Till then, we can all just wait in anticipation – a trial if you will.
