Your single-player worlds live in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Enshrouded, one set of files per world, named with 8 letters and numbers (world 1 is 3ad85aea). Quit Enshrouded, zip the files of one world, power down your server, and upload the ZIP with Upload World on the Backups card. We rename it to the world a dedicated server loads, and your current server world is backed up first. Characters stay on each player's PC and come with them.
Quit Enshrouded, so its last save is on disk.
Press Win+R, paste %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Enshrouded, and press Enter.
Each world is a group of files starting with the same 8 characters. Enshrouded hands out these names in the order you created your worlds:
| World | File name |
|---|---|
| 1 | 3ad85aea |
| 2 | 3bd85c7d |
| 3 | 38d857c4 |
| 4 | 39d85957 |
| 5 | 36d8549e |
| 6 | 37d85631 |
| 7 | 34d85178 |
| 8 | 35d8530b |
| 9 | 32d84e52 |
| 10 | 33d84fe5 |
One world is the file with just the 8 characters (the world itself), -1 to -9 (the game's rolling copies of it), -index (which copy is newest), and _info (its name and details). None of them has an extension like .sav, so Windows lists their type as plain "File". Not sure which world is yours? Sort by Date modified: the one you played last has the newest files.
No world files there? With Steam Cloud on, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata, in your Steam user ID folder, under 1203620\remote. Played in a friend's world? It is saved on the host's PC, so ask the host to send you the files.
Select the world file and every file that starts with the same 8 characters. Right-click and choose Send to, then Compressed (zipped) folder (on Windows 11, Compress to ZIP file).
Leave everything else out. An upload that holds two or more worlds is refused, so don't zip the whole folder when it has several. Your characters stay on your PC: they are never part of a server world.
Power down your server. Upload World stays disabled while it runs.
Open the Backups card and click Upload World.
Drop your ZIP into the box (RAR, 7Z, and TAR.GZ work too) and click Upload and replace world.
When the import finishes, press Power up.
A dedicated server only ever loads world 3ad85aea, so the import renames your files to it and keeps each ending. That is why you can bring any of your worlds, not just world 1. Your previous server world is kept in the Backups list as Backup before world upload, so you can go back to it any time. Setting up a new server instead? Switch on Upload Existing World during setup and drop the same ZIP there.
The server card shows "World import failed." with the reason:
"No Enshrouded world found in this upload...": the ZIP is missing the world file itself. Zip the world's own files again, including the one named with just the 8 characters.
"This archive contains more than one world...": the ZIP holds files from two or more worlds. Zip only the files that start with one world's 8 characters.
Fix the ZIP and use Upload a different file. Your previous world stays in Backups either way: Upload an existing world to your server.
Enshrouded saves the world about every 5 minutes, and your server saves it once more every time it stops, restarts, or goes to sleep. There is no autosave setting to change, because the game has none. It has no save command either, so a New Backup taken while the server runs holds the last autosave; a backup taken after a stop has everything.
In the Files card, your world is the savegame folder: 3ad85aea, its numbered copies, and 3ad85aea-index.
Download any backup from the Backups card. The world is in the savegame folder inside the ZIP.
One catch: the server's files are named 3ad85aea, the same name as your single-player world 1, so copying them into your save folder replaces your own world 1. Copy your world 1 files somewhere safe first. We have not yet tested every way back into single player, so keep that copy until you have checked the world in game.
