ValheimGuideValheim is a 1 to 10 player game and Haptic never caps players by plan. Where the limit comes from and what going past it with mods really means.
Valheim is built for 1 to 10 players, and that limit comes from the game, not from Haptic: we never sell or cap player slots. All 10 can play on any Haptic Valheim server. Going beyond 10 is possible with mods, and we will not stop you, but Valheim's own networking strains past its design size, so big public servers are rough in ways no host can polish away.
Valheim's dedicated server accepts up to 10 connected players. Iron Gate has kept that number through every update, and the 1.0 release keeps it too: Valheim 1.0 is a game for 1 to 10 players, in their own words. There is no plan, tier, or fee anywhere that changes it, because it is not a hosting setting at all.
On Haptic you never think about slots: every Valheim server supports the full 10, and your plan is about memory, not people.
Yes, mods exist that raise the cap, and groups do run 20 or 30 player modded servers. Before you build a community server on that, know what you are signing up for:
The strain is in the game, not the hardware. Valheim simulates the action around players on the players' own machines and relays it through the server. The more players cluster together, the more that model wobbles: rubber-banding, teleporting enemies, and rough boss fights with a crowd. A stronger server does not change that math.
Everyone needs the mods. Raising the cap is a server-and-client mod, so every player installs it, like any other Valheim mod. The dashboard's mod tools and your server's public page make that manageable. See what your players need to install.
Give a busy world memory headroom. More players means more built, more dropped, more tamed. Add memory from the dashboard as the world grows; it applies live.
If your dream is a big persistent community world, we would honestly point you at games built for it. If your dream is 15 friends on Saturdays, a modded Valheim server can absolutely do that, with the caveats above.
Pick the region closest to your group.
Set your server password and share the join code or address only with your crew.
If some friends are on console or Game Pass, turn on Crossplay so everyone shares the world. See how console friends join.
As your world ages and fills with builds, give it more memory from the dashboard.
