Your world is a game folder inside %APPDATA%\7DaysToDie\Saves\<map> that holds main.ttw. Zip the folder named after your map, with your game's folder inside it, and upload the zip with Upload World on your server's Backups card. If you played on a random (RWG) or custom map, upload the Saves and GeneratedWorlds folders together so the map comes along.
Windows: %APPDATA%\7DaysToDie\Saves (paste it into the File Explorer address bar).
Linux and Steam Deck: ~/.local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves.
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/7DaysToDie/Saves.
A dedicated server: the Saves folder inside its UserDataFolder (for example UserData/Saves on Windows, or .local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves for LinuxGSM).
Inside Saves, every map has a folder (for example Navezgane or Pregen06k01), and every game you played on it has a folder inside that (for example Saves\Navezgane\My Game). Your world is that game folder: it holds main.ttw, the Region folder (the land you changed) and the Player folder (the characters).
Zip the folder named after your map, with your game's folder inside it, and upload the zip. That folder tells us which map the save belongs to.
Only your game's folder? We work out the map from the save itself: its trees and rocks stand on the map's land, so we can tell Navezgane and the Pregen maps apart. If we can't, we ask you which map it was.
A random (RWG) or custom map: upload the Saves folder and the GeneratedWorlds folder from %APPDATA%\7DaysToDie together in one zip. The map's folder in GeneratedWorlds has the same name as the save's folder in Saves (for example Juvupe Valley), and we install the map with your save.
If the map isn't in your upload, we refuse it and name the map, unless your server may already have it (your server's World is that map, or your server is set to RWG and you upload one of its own backups). Then your world is installed, and if the map turns out to be missing, the start says which map to upload. Picking another World instead starts a new save.
We find your save however deep it sits in the zip: a whole Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie folder, a Linux server's .local/share/7DaysToDie folder, a Steam Deck or Proton folder, or a LinuxGSM backup.
Several saves: we install one (a complete save first, then the newest) and tell you which ones we left out. A save from an Alpha version is always left out when the upload also has a save made on 1.0 or later.
Keep the map folder's real name. If it was copied and renamed (for example Navezgane - Copy or Navezgane (1)), we put the save on the map that name came from and tell you. If the save's own land shows it was played on another of the game's maps, it goes on that map instead.
Copied random or custom map folders (for example Saves\Juvupe Valley (1) and GeneratedWorlds\Juvupe Valley (1)) both go in under the map's real name, Juvupe Valley.
A map's name can only use letters, numbers, spaces, dots, dashes and underscores. If the folder around your game's folder has any other name, we ask you which map the save was played on. If the map's folder in GeneratedWorlds has that name too, rename both folders to one new name and upload them again.
Power down your server. Upload World is disabled while the server is running.
Open the Backups card and click Upload World.
Drop in your zip (or a RAR, 7Z, or TAR.GZ) and confirm with Upload and replace world. Your server's current world is saved first as Backup before world upload.
When the import finishes, press Start. The first start checks that 7 Days to Die loaded your save, not a new one.

Your old server's settings and admin list (serverconfig.xml, serveradmin.xml) aren't imported: your Haptic server keeps its own. Set gameplay options on the Overview card's Details tab and admins on its Admins tab.
Mods aren't installed with a world. If your save uses mods, put the same mod versions in data/Mods with the Files card or SFTP before you start the server, or modded blocks and items will be missing. The mods that come with 7 Days to Die itself (0_TFP_Harmony and the other TFP mods) are on every server already.
The archive mark: if your save was archived in the game, we leave out its archived.flag, so the server opens it like any other save.
Saves last played on an Alpha version (Alpha 21 and older): version 1.0 and later still open them, but they lose their loot containers and regrow every tree and rock, and the game recommends a new world. We refuse them; upload a save made on 1.0 or later.
Saves played on a map from an older version (for example Pregen06k1) can't load on the current version. Saves on Navezgane or on Pregen06k01, Pregen06k02, Pregen08k01 or Pregen08k02 work.
An empty or damaged main.ttw: the game loads its backup copy (main.ttw.bak) and we tell you. If every copy is empty or damaged, make sure the files are on your computer and upload the save again.
Only a save's Region or Player folder is not enough: upload the whole save folder. If your save folder has no main.ttw but a copy such as main.ttw.old or main.ttw.bak, rename the copy to main.ttw first.
A map folder from GeneratedWorlds on its own, or the game's install folder (including its Worlds folder), is not a save. Your saves are never in the install folder.
A save made on a newer version of 7 Days to Die than your server runs gets a note. Start the server after it updates, or turn off Latest Experimental on the Details tab if it is on (it runs an older version).
A single-player character belongs to your Steam account, and on a server you play with your server account. After the upload, the server card says a single-player character isn't attached yet: have the player join once, then pick them from the list to attach. That brings the character, its explored map and its files over to the player's server account.
Haptic backups include your server's generated maps, so moving a random-map world from one Haptic server to another brings its map.
Reach us on Discord or at support@haptic.gg with your server name and the exact message on your server card.
